OUR STORY

Hi, I’m Kristy Lam, founder of Mulan Dumpling. Inspired by Mulan, the legendary Chinese heroine, our brand celebrates both the joy of dumplings and the strength of women.

I grew up in a Hong Kong household where the “three dishes, one soup” tradition taught me the importance of balance — in nourishment, flavor, and family. Though I later pursued a decade-long career in finance, my love for cooking never faded. Food remained my bridge to connection and comfort, especially after moving to the U.S.

In 2016, my partner Roya Shadravan faced a life-threatening brain tumor. Thankfully, she made a full recovery, but the experience transformed how we saw food and health. We realized how difficult it was to find convenient Asian meals made with real, clean ingredients that still delivered on flavor.

So we set out to make our own. At Mulan Dumpling, we pour heart and heritage into every bite — crafting dumplings that are wholesome, delicious, and made with integrity, honoring the people and traditions that inspire us.

WHY MULAN?

Mulan Dumpling is named after the legendary Chinese warrior who disguised herself as a man to take her father’s place in battle. Through courage, skill, and heart, she brought honor to her family and changed the course of her destiny.

Mulan isn’t a princess. She doesn’t need magic or perfection. She leads with purpose, challenges norms, and is an inspiration to others. 

Like Mulan, we believe in doing things differently — breaking conventions, honoring our roots, and creating food with integrity and heart.
